Ramadan is considered to be a holy month in Islam in which their people are doing a 30-day prayer while fasting. Though expatriates are not required to follow such, it is expected from them that utmost respect by not to showing off eating outside is required. Moslems are only allowed to eat from 7.15 pm until 4.00 am. Thus, it is a commonly used practice that at 7.15 pm onwards, during thus month, IFTAR buffets and dinners are served.

It’s modern Arabic design and architecture brings in a homey comfort and a sense of cosy de luxe. Their Arabic table set ups plus the Arabic music playing all over dinner made it a good and relaxing snap for groups of 2, 4, or even larger in celebrating special occasions, casual date nights, and IFTAR dinners.
What we also think that plays a major role in guests spirits is the tidiness and neatness of the place they are eating because it reflects the cleanliness of the food being served. We got the best impression of this 5 star Amwaj Rotana’s Horizon Restaurant. It is just amazingly attractive, a place that will always be definite in our bucket list. The luxurious brand of Rotana really meant a lot, from dining to staycation. No wonder they remained to be up and posh all this time.
Big and hearty smiles of the restaurant’s accommodating staff and crew received us with warmth when we arrived. We greatly appreciate the kind assistance in showing us around and helping us get familiar with the array of food variety displayed.
It was an interesting evening at Horizon, we were overwhelmed with the choicest of International and Mediterranean best sellers and selections that flooded our eyes. The salad bar, shawarma and sushi station, bread corner, olives section, honey options, desserts and sweets are watering and catching.
After a round of hot and sour chicken soup and a bite of the famous Georgian kachapuri with meat and egg, we loaded our favorite greens on to our plates. We tried our own version of do-it-your-own salad, mixing healthy leaves as we can with a thousand island dressing. We also took advantage of their beef liver salad which was heavenly flavorful. And of course, we have never forgotten the fattoush salad!
The tenderly and deliciously cooked roasted beef in pepper sauce matched with mashed potato and barberries rice, plus the aromatic and tasty grilled salmon with lemon butter sauce made up our special dinner. The cooking is really a must-try!
Apart from their luscious fruit cakes, Horizon restaurant offers the best strawberry shortcake in town! Kataif Nutella, on the other hand, is the most delectable amongst Arabic sweets we’ve tried. Also, not to forget to mention is their flavored camel milk ice cream which is offered only during IFTARs! So grab of their vanilla, strawberry, loutes, plain milk, and dates flavors.
